History

Elisabeth was born and raised in Paros, an island bathed in light, the scent of thyme and the subtle hum of bees. From her earliest days, she was surrounded by her grandfather Pantelis and her father, Dimitris, two dedicated beekeepers, actively participating in every stage of the beekeeping process: from inspecting hives and raising queens, to collecting honey and transporting the hives to the appropriate flower-bearing sites on the island. Bees, for Elisabeth, were not just insects or workers of nature — they were companions, wondrous creatures who taught her the patience, rhythm and wisdom of the natural world.

As a child, she had learned to listen to the wind, to “read” the hives, to understand the inner logic of the bee hive. This experiential relationship with nature shaped her worldview. Nature, the seasons, respect for the cycle of life were for her a way of being.

Although her studies in Applied Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Technical University of Athens temporarily took her away from the family’s beekeeping, the island never ceased to live within her. Every return to Paros was a return to her roots, a mental call that grew stronger and stronger.

Angelos, on the other hand, grew up in bustling Athens, far from the land and the bees. His only contact with them was limited to the stings he received during the summers in Ia, Santorini, his place of origin. Nevertheless, he always had an innate love for nature and authenticity, even if he had not fully realized it. His studies in Computer Science and Accounting, and his subsequent career in a Bank, followed the beaten path. A safe, but perhaps sterile path.

His acquaintance with Elisabeth in 2010 was a turning point. It was a chance – or perhaps fateful – crossroads that brought together two people with common values and complementary strengths. Together they dreamed of a more meaningful life, more rooted in the earth, more free. In 2012, on the occasion of a voluntary exit from the Bank, they made the big decision: to leave the city behind and return to Paros, with the aim of continuing – and also developing – the beekeeping unit that Elisabeth’s family had created with dedication and knowledge over four decades ago.

The transition was neither self-evident nor easy. Before starting, they made sure to enrich their experiential experience with scientific training. They attended specialized seminars and studies in areas such as Beekeeping, Bee Therapy and the Production of Natural Cosmetics, acquiring knowledge that would allow them not only to maintain the business, but also to transform it into something innovative. Their instructors were guiding beacons, strengthening their passion and cultivating a deeper understanding of the bee society. The education did not stop there – to this day, they continue to attend seminars and develop, with studies both in Greece and abroad.

This new knowledge came to “click” ideally with the rich experience and wisdom of Elisabeth’s parents. The experience of the older generation, especially with regard to the special microclimate and seasonality of Paros, proved invaluable. The synthesis of old and new, traditional knowledge and modern technique, formed the basis on which the new era of the family beekeeping business was built.
Since 2013, Elisabeth and Angelos have taken over the business with dedication and vision, investing in modern infrastructure, expanding the range of products and constantly looking for ways to offer quality, authentic and sustainable goods to the modern consumer. Their honey, like the rest of the hive’s products, is not just food or cosmetics – it is a carrier of culture, a piece of their soul.

In 2025, they managed to fulfill a dream they had been carrying for years: the creation of a model beekeeping facility for the Cyclades. A place of knowledge, experiential experience and culture, where locals and visitors can come into contact with the magical world of the bee. There, every hive tells a story, every drop of honey is the essence of cooperation between man and nature.

Their path is a shining example of the convergence of tradition and innovation, a proof that returning to nature is not a return to the past, but a leap into the future with roots deep in the earth. With love, perseverance and faith, they managed to transform a family tradition into a living vision for future generations.
